Our Low-cost Clinic

The Marylebone Psychodynamic runs a training clinic, offering psychodynamic psychotherapy at a low cost. Our committed trainees go through a rigorous selection process and are supervised weekly by our experienced team.

Referrals are usually made by or on the advice of General Practitioners at our partner clinics. We also accept self-referrals.

The therapy offered lasts for one year, which can be reviewed by patient and therapist at the end of the period.

Fees

Our fees are on a sliding scale to match the capacity of a person to contribute to their treatment. We use a rule of thumb of one pound per thousand pound earned to suggest a fee to each new patient on our service. Our lowest fee is £15 and our highest fee is £50.

Location

Our consulting room is located at 34 South Molton Street, London W1K 5RG. Our therapists in training also offer online consultations. We strongly suggest that the assessment session and the first couple of therapy sessions be conducted face-to-face.

What happens when you get in touch ?

First Step: Triage

We will first offer you a short telephone conversation (up to 15 minutes) to understand your current need and circumstancesin broad terms. We will be able at the end of this phone call (which we call triage) to tell you if we are able to invite you for an assessment. We will also agree on a fee for this assessment, which will be carried out by a senior psychotherapist and supervisor at the Marylebone Psychodynamic.

Second Step: Assessment

The assessment is a structured session during which the therapist and patient will go into the detail of the patient’s history and the issues that they are patient facing. They will also discuss the focus, process and boundaries of psychotherapy, and possibly agree to start treatment.

Third Step: Psychotherapy

Treatment is a one-year engagement with a trainee psychotherapist at the agreed fee. Sessions are held weekly at a minimum, ideally at the same time each week. Therapy can be extended after the initial period concludes, depending on perceived progress and ongoing needs.
